The Toy Closets is a project of the Yale Auxiliary, part of the Yale New New Haven Children's Hospital. This project was founded more than a decade ago by Ann Nyberg from News Channel 8. Ann is a well known anchorwoman who can be seen nightly on the 5:00-6:30PM news broadcast.
The Toy Closets program is designed to provide new toys to pediatric patients on birthdays, holidays, before end-of-treatment celebrations and upon discharge from the hospital. This program relies on the strong support of the community.
Kevin Sherman and Tom McInerney, of Council #28 delivered toys to the "Closet" on April 20, 2009 to help the efforts of the Yale Auxiliary. The toys were collected by the Shelton, CT Police Department over the past few months as part of their community service. As a way to help get the toys to the Toy Closet, Kevin and Tom volunteered their time.
